In 1994 the Mealagh Valley Community Development Association initiated a field survey of the archaeological and historical sites of the area in order to publish this survey. Phil and Kathleen Bishop, Sean O'Brien and David Myler undertook the task of visiting the Valley's many sites and recording their findings.
